— Who this page is for
Who this page is for
Arthro Plus may suit adults with joint or soft-tissue pain who want a medical assessment before choosing a non-surgical treatment.
Knee pain or stiffness
You have symptoms associated with mild-to-moderate knee osteoarthritis or runner's knee and want to discuss suitable non-surgical options.
Foot & ankle tendon pain
Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, or heel-spur symptoms are limiting walking, training, or everyday movement.
Elbow overuse pain
Tennis elbow or golfer's elbow has persisted despite rest or activity changes and needs proper assessment.
Running-related pain
IT band or shin-splint symptoms are affecting sport, and you want a plan that works alongside rehabilitation and load management.
— What this involves
Shockwave therapy and HA joint injections
Arthro Plus is DrPlus's joint programme using shockwave therapy, hyaluronic acid (HA) viscosupplementation, or a combination when appropriate. These options are different: shockwave is non-invasive and is commonly considered for selected tendon and soft-tissue conditions, while HA is injected into a joint and may be considered for selected osteoarthritis-related knee pain.
Shockwave therapy delivers targeted acoustic pulses to the affected area. The treatment is medication-free and is intended to support local circulation and the body's tissue-repair response. A typical course may involve 3–5 weekly sessions, but the schedule depends on the condition and response.
HA is a substance naturally present in healthy joint fluid. Viscosupplementation aims to improve lubrication and cushioning within the joint; it does not regrow cartilage or cure osteoarthritis. The product, number of injections, expected duration, risks, and alternatives are discussed before treatment.
Every plan starts with examination. If your symptoms need imaging, physiotherapy, an orthopaedic opinion, or another form of care, your doctor will explain that rather than recommending an unsuitable procedure.

— Why DrPlus
Practical benefits of an assessment-led plan
Treatment is selected for the underlying problem rather than offering every patient the same package.
Shockwave therapy requires no injection or medication and is generally well tolerated, although temporary soreness can occur.
The plan aims to reduce discomfort and improve movement while supporting rehabilitation, activity changes, and load management.
Your doctor explains why shockwave, HA injection, a combined plan, or referral is the more appropriate next step.
Pain, mobility, and day-to-day function are reviewed so the programme can be adjusted rather than continued automatically.

Common questions
Arthro Plus is DrPlus's doctor-led joint programme. Depending on the diagnosis and suitability, it may use shockwave therapy, hyaluronic acid viscosupplementation, or a staged combination alongside rehabilitation and activity guidance.
It can include an HA joint injection for selected patients with osteoarthritis-related knee pain. HA aims to supplement the joint's natural lubrication and cushioning; it is not a steroid, does not regrow cartilage, and is not suitable for every cause of knee pain.
A typical course is 3–5 sessions, often spaced one week apart. Your doctor may recommend a different schedule based on the condition, symptom duration, and response to treatment.
Common examples include Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, tennis or golfer's elbow, patellofemoral pain, IT band symptoms, shin splints, and selected heel pain. Similar symptoms can have different causes, so suitability is confirmed only after examination.
Shockwave therapy can cause temporary tenderness, redness, swelling, or bruising. HA injections can cause short-term injection-site pain, warmth, swelling, stiffness, or bruising; infection and allergic reactions are less common but important risks. Your doctor will review your medical history and explain product-specific risks before treatment.
We do not publish prices because every programme is personalised — the therapies included and the duration depend on your assessment. You will receive a written programme outline and personalised quote after your consultation, with no obligation to proceed.
Yes — many of our Arthro Plus patients travel from Singapore. Our Johor Bahru clinic in Iskandar Puteri is roughly 20–30 minutes from the Tuas Second Link, and you can start with a consultation at our Singapore clinics — SBF Center in Tanjong Pagar, The Flow Mall at East Coast, or Novena Medical Centre in Novena — or message us on WhatsApp first for a doctor's opinion. Your doctor will help you plan sessions and any downtime around your travel.

How the Arthro Plus options differ
Shockwave and HA viscosupplementation have different roles. Your examination, diagnosis, previous treatment, and activity goals determine what may be appropriate.
Non-invasive
Shockwave therapy
Targeted acoustic pulses are applied over selected painful soft tissue to support the local healing response.
- No injection or medication
- Often planned as 3–5 weekly sessions
- Commonly considered for selected tendon and overuse conditions
- Temporary tenderness or bruising can occur
Viscosupplementation
Hyaluronic acid injection
HA is injected into the joint to supplement the lubricating and cushioning properties of synovial fluid.
- Considered for selected knee osteoarthritis symptoms
- Performed only after medical assessment
- Injection-site pain, swelling, warmth, or stiffness can occur
- Response and duration vary by individual
Personalised
Combined & reviewed plan
Some patients may benefit from a staged plan that combines treatment with rehabilitation and activity guidance.
- Not every patient needs both treatments
- Progress is measured against pain and mobility goals
- Imaging or specialist referral may be recommended
- No promise of cartilage regrowth or permanent relief
Neither option is suitable for everyone. Your doctor will discuss expected benefits, limitations, contraindications, alternatives, and costs before you decide.
