Nose Thread Lift in Singapore: What to Expect, Longevity & Aftercare

A nose thread lift is a clinic procedure performed under local anaesthesia. After the doctor confirms the plan at assessment, the nose is cleaned and numbed — typically with a combination of numbing cream and local anaesthetic injection. Fine, dissolvable PDO (polydioxanone) threads are then introduced through a small entry point at the nose tip and positioned along the bridge, and sometimes into the tip, using a blunt cannula.

The number of threads depends on the goal and the anatomy — bridge definition, tip support, or both. Most patients describe pressure and a pushing sensation rather than sharp pain. From numbing to finish, the appointment commonly takes 45 minutes to an hour, and you walk out the same day.

PDO threads dissolve gradually over roughly six to nine months. The visible result usually outlasts the threads themselves, because the collagen stimulated around them provides some ongoing support — most patients retain a visible effect for around one to two years, with individual variation in both directions.

This temporariness is a feature and a limitation. It means the treatment is not a permanent commitment and can be repeated or adjusted; it also means anyone promising permanent reshaping is describing a different procedure. If you want a permanent structural change, that conversation is about rhinoplasty, and an honest clinic will say so at assessment.

The threads need time to settle in the position the doctor placed them, and most aftercare rules exist to protect that placement. The critical window is the first one to two weeks.

Expected effects in the first days include swelling, tenderness along the bridge, mild bruising at the entry point, and a feeling of tightness — these settle progressively over one to two weeks. Makeup can usually conceal the entry point after the first couple of days.

Contact the clinic promptly if you notice increasing (rather than settling) pain, redness spreading beyond the treated area, a thread that becomes visible or palpable through the skin, asymmetry that persists after swelling subsides, or any signs of infection. These are uncommon, and early review is the correct response — not waiting.

Threads suit selected goals: adding definition to a low or flat bridge, subtle tip support, and refining the profile without surgery. They do not suit every nose. Very thin skin can show thread outlines; significant humps, deviations or structural concerns are surgical territory; and skin with active infection or certain medical conditions needs those addressed first.
