When you'll see results

Anti-wrinkle injections don't work instantly. The relaxing effect typically begins within a few days and continues to build over up to about two weeks, when the result settles. So if your lines look much the same the next morning, that's expected — patience, not a top-up, is the right response in the first fortnight.

— Healing timeline

What to expect, by timeframe

  1. Day 0

    Treatment day

Brief injections; possible small bruise or redness. Most return to normal activities.

  2. Days 2–4

    Onset

Lines begin to soften as the muscle relaxes.

  3. ~2 weeks

    Settled result

Full effect; ideal time for a review and any minor tweak.

  4. ~3–4 months

    Gradual return

Movement and lines slowly return; repeat treatment maintains the effect.

A general guide only. Individual healing speed varies with skin type, scar depth, aftercare and the treatment used.

How long results last

For most people the effect lasts around three to four months before movement — and the lines — gradually return. This varies by individual, by area (strong muscles can return sooner), and by dose. Some people find that with regular treatment, the muscle becomes less strong over time and treatments can be spaced a little further apart, but this isn't guaranteed and shouldn't be promised.

Because the effect is temporary, treatment is repeated to maintain it — which is also reassuring, since an unwanted result fades rather than lasting forever.

Simple aftercare

Aftercare is straightforward and your doctor will give you specifics, but the common advice is: stay upright for a few hours, avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area that day, and skip strenuous exercise, saunas and excessive heat for the rest of the day. These steps simply help the product settle where it was placed and reduce bruising.

Small bruises or tenderness can be covered with makeup once any pinpoint marks have closed, as advised. If anything concerns you, contacting the clinic is always reasonable.

Realistic expectations (and why we don't show before/afters)

A natural anti-wrinkle result looks like a softer, more rested version of you — not a frozen or dramatically different face. Dynamic lines soften; deeply etched static lines may improve only partly. Setting that expectation honestly is part of good care.

We deliberately don't use promotional before-and-after patient photos: results vary from person to person, and in line with Malaysian medical-advertising standards we'd rather describe what's realistic than imply a guaranteed outcome. A consultation gives you a personalised, honest picture.

The two-week review

A review at around two weeks is when the result is fully settled and any small adjustment can be made. It's also a chance to talk through how the result feels in everyday expression and to plan the timing of future treatment. This follow-up is part of doctor-led care at DrPlus in Johor Bahru.

Common questions

Results usually begin within a few days and settle by around two weeks. If lines look similar the next day, that's normal — the effect builds gradually rather than appearing instantly.

Commonly around three to four months before movement and lines gradually return, though this varies by individual, area and dose. Treatment is repeated to maintain the effect.

Generally: stay upright for a few hours, avoid rubbing the area, and skip strenuous exercise, saunas and excessive heat for the rest of the day. Your doctor will give you specific guidance.

Usually minimal — most people return to normal activities the same day. A small bruise, redness or tenderness at injection points can occur and settles quickly.

Not with conservative, doctor-led dosing. The aim is a natural, refreshed look that still moves. A two-week review lets the result be fine-tuned if needed.
