What the Nefertiti lift is

The 'Nefertiti lift' is a technique named after the elegant jawline of the ancient Egyptian queen. It uses anti-wrinkle injections placed along the jawline and into the platysma — the broad, flat muscle of the neck. The platysma partly pulls the lower face and jawline downward; relaxing its downward pull can let the jawline sit a little cleaner and reduce the appearance of neck banding.

Mechanism

1. Downward pull

The platysma neck muscle partly tugs the jawline and lower face downward.

Mechanism

2. Relax the pull

Small doses along the jaw and neck ease that downward tension.

Mechanism

3. Cleaner line

With less downward pull, the jawline can sit a little cleaner and neck bands soften.

What it can realistically do

Done well, it offers a subtle refinement of the jaw and upper-neck line and can soften vertical neck bands. It's best thought of as a light, non-surgical tidy-up for mild concerns — not a dramatic lift. Setting this expectation is essential, because the word 'lift' can promise more than injections can deliver.

Who it suits

It tends to suit people with mild jawline softening or visible neck bands driven by an active platysma — not those with significant skin laxity or volume loss, where it won't achieve much. Because the lower face has several contributors, it's often discussed alongside masseter treatment (for a wide jaw muscle) or structural options, depending on goals.

Why assessment matters here

Whether the Nefertiti technique helps depends entirely on what's driving your concern — muscle pull, skin laxity, volume, or jaw-muscle bulk. A doctor assesses this and will tell you honestly if injections are the right tool or if something else suits your goal better. Our masseter Botox and facial sculpting pages cover related lower-face options.

At DrPlus in Johor Bahru, the lower face and neck are assessed as a whole before any plan.

No. It's a subtle, non-surgical refinement for mild laxity and downward pull. Significant sagging needs different, often surgical, options. A doctor will tell you honestly which applies to you.
