How Much Does Hair Loss Treatment Cost in Singapore? What Drives the Quote
Hair loss quotes in Singapore differ several-fold because clinics are quoting different things. This guide explains the variables so you can compare like with like — without a price table.

Why there is no single price for hair loss treatment
'Hair loss treatment' is not one product. Under that phrase sit at least five different medical situations — androgenetic (pattern) loss, telogen effluvium (diffuse shedding after a trigger), scalp conditions such as seborrhoeic dermatitis, autoimmune patchy loss (alopecia areata) and shedding driven by iron, thyroid or hormonal problems — and each is managed differently. A clinic that quotes a price before examining the scalp is quoting for a product, not for your problem.
This is why quotes across Singapore vary several-fold for what sounds like the same complaint. One clinic is pricing a consultation and a prescription; another is pricing a twelve-session scalp package; a third is bundling blood tests, therapy and photo-tracked reviews for a year. None of those numbers is comparable to the others until you know what each contains.
What a hair loss plan is actually made of
Break any quote into its components and it becomes comparable. Most diagnosis-led plans contain some or all of the following: a consultation with scalp examination; blood tests where the history suggests a medical driver (iron stores, thyroid function, sometimes hormones); the therapy itself — usually doctor-prescribed topical treatment, with oral options for some patients — supplied monthly; review visits at roughly three and six months with standardised photographs; and, where a scalp condition is present, its own medical treatment.
Each of those is a line a clinic should be able to name. If a quote cannot be broken down this way, you are being sold a bundle rather than a plan.

The components behind a hair loss quote
| Component | When it applies | How it moves the total |
|---|---|---|
| Consultation & scalp examination | Every patient | Fixed, one-off at the start and at each review |
| Blood tests | When history or examination points to iron, thyroid or hormonal causes | One-off; may be repeated if a level is being corrected |
| Prescribed therapy | Pattern loss; some scalp conditions | Recurring monthly — the main driver of the yearly figure |
| Reviews with photographs | Every treated patient, at ~3 and ~6 months | Small, predictable; the part cheap packages omit |
| Scalp condition treatment | Only when inflammation, dandruff or folliculitis is present | Short course; not needed for most pattern loss |

The variables that move the price up or down
The diagnosis is the largest variable. Trigger-related shedding with a normal scalp may need little beyond the consultation and reassurance, while established pattern loss is a long-term monthly commitment. Whether blood tests are needed is the second: they are not routine for everyone, and a clinic that orders a full panel for every patient is adding cost without adding information. The third is the therapy chosen — topical alone versus topical plus an oral option — and the fourth is how long it realistically runs, which for pattern loss is years rather than months.
Finally, review cadence. Standardised photographs at three and six months are how anyone knows whether the plan is working; clinics that skip reviews are cheaper in the short term and more expensive in the long term, because the plan is never corrected.
Scalp packages, 'hair growth' courses and other red flags
The commonest way to overpay for hair loss in Singapore is to buy a pre-paid package of 'scalp treatments' — often eight to twelve sessions — before anyone has diagnosed the cause. Cosmetic scalp sessions can make an oily or flaky scalp feel better, but they do not treat pattern loss, iron deficiency, thyroid disease or a hormonal driver, which between them explain most thinning. If the package is sold at the first visit, before an examination and before any discussion of blood tests, that is the signal.
Other signals to weigh: a quote with no written breakdown; a plan with no review dates; promises of visible regrowth within weeks (hair grows roughly a centimetre a month, so that is not possible); and 'proprietary' serums or supplements positioned as the treatment rather than as support. None of these makes a clinic dishonest, but each makes a quote harder to compare.
MediSave, insurance and when hair loss is 'medical'
Treatment of cosmetic thinning — pattern hair loss in an otherwise well person — is not MediSave-claimable and is rarely covered by insurance. Where hair loss is a symptom of a medical condition such as thyroid disease, severe iron deficiency or an autoimmune process, the underlying condition is managed as a medical problem, and the usual rules for that condition apply. Your doctor will tell you which side of that line your case sits on; the hair treatment itself should still be budgeted as a cosmetic plan.
How DrPlus Singapore quotes hair loss treatment
At our Tanjong Pagar, East Coast and Novena clinics, the consultation comes first: history, scalp examination and blood tests only where they will change the plan. You then receive a written plan and quote that names the diagnosis, the therapy, the review schedule and the realistic yearly picture — with no obligation to proceed. Regenerative hair injections such as PRP are not offered at our Singapore clinics, so they never appear in a Singapore hair loss quote. Results vary by individual, and the plan is adjusted at each review.

Common questions
Consultation fees vary by clinic and are usually quoted on enquiry. What matters more is what the consultation contains — a scalp examination, a proper history and a decision about whether blood tests are needed — because that is what turns the visit into a diagnosis rather than a sales conversation.
Treatment of cosmetic thinning is not MediSave-claimable. Where hair loss is a symptom of a medical condition, that condition is managed as a medical problem under its own rules. Your doctor will tell you which applies to you.
Because they are quoting different things. A consultation and prescription, a pre-paid scalp package and a year of therapy with reviews are three different products. Break every quote into its components — diagnosis, tests, therapy, reviews — before comparing the totals.
Cosmetic scalp sessions can improve how an oily or flaky scalp feels, but they do not treat pattern loss or a medical cause. If a package is offered before an examination and a diagnosis, decline it until you know what you are treating.
Trigger-related shedding usually resolves within a year and needs little ongoing cost. Pattern hair loss is a long-term condition: therapy protects and thickens what remains for as long as it is continued, so the realistic budget is yearly, with maintenance, rather than a one-off course.
