Who this page is for
This guide explains when the treatment may be considered and what a consultation covers. Suitability can only be confirmed after a doctor assesses your concern and medical history.
Rolling scars that pull downward
Broad depressions that change when the surrounding skin is gently stretched may reflect fibrous tethering.
Scars that did not respond to surface treatment
Laser or peels cannot release deep fibrous bands when tethering is the main problem.
Mixed acne scar patterns
Subcision may be one stage in a plan that later includes resurfacing or collagen-remodelling treatment.
Able to plan for bruising
Bruising, swelling and tenderness can occur, so work and social timing should be discussed first.
— What this involves
What Subcision (Singapore) involves
Subcision uses a sterile needle or cannula beneath a selected depressed scar to release fibrous bands that tether the skin downward. It treats the structural attachment, not surface pigment.
The doctor maps scar type and depth first. Ice-pick scars, active acne and raised scars need different approaches, and not every depression should be subcised.
Local anaesthetic is used. Bruising, swelling and tenderness are expected possibilities; less-common risks and aftercare are explained before consent. Combination treatment is only planned when clinically appropriate.
— Why DrPlus
How care is planned at DrPlus Singapore
Treatment begins with assessment, informed consent and a clear discussion of limitations, risks and aftercare.
A physician reviews suitability and explains reasonable alternatives before treatment is planned.
Technique, intensity and session timing are selected for the individual concern rather than applied as a fixed package.
Expected reactions, less-common risks, aftercare and reasons to contact the clinic are discussed before you decide.
Consultations are available at SBF Center in Tanjong Pagar and The Flow Mall at East Coast.

Common questions
Subcision is mainly considered for selected rolling or tethered scars. It is not the main treatment for ice-pick scars, raised scars or pigmentation left after acne.
Bruising, swelling and tenderness can last days and sometimes longer. The degree varies by treatment extent and individual healing. Your doctor will explain the likely recovery window for your plan.
Some scars may need more than one session or a staged combination plan. Session needs depend on scar depth, tethering and response, so they cannot be confirmed before assessment.
Pricing depends on the number and extent of scars and whether another treatment is clinically indicated. A written quote is provided after assessment, with no obligation to proceed.
We see patients at SBF Center, 160 Robinson Road #03-10 (Tanjong Pagar — call +65 8851 9547), and The Flow Mall, 66 East Coast Road #03-05 (East Coast — call +65 8857 4917).
